Richelle Mottosky received her training and relevant degrees in Calgary and Washington, is a member of the Psychology Association of Alberta and College of Alberta Psychologists. Richelle has over 25 years of experience in the helping profession. Previous professional activities include Calgary Police Service (Victim Assistance Unit, Victim Assistance Support Team), Calgary Board of Education, Not-for-Profit agencies, community agencies, university settings, Copeman Healthcare, Telus Health Care Centre, and most recently private practice joining Jennifer Raymond at Purple Couch Psychology.

She provides clinical and counselling support to adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of challenges including: post trauma support, life transition, stages of life and end of life complexities. Richelle also offers relationship support (marriage, separation, divorce, redefinition, parenting). Skill development and strengthening of skills include: stress management, communication, mindfulness, meditation, emotion regulation, social (EQ and SQ), attunement and earned secure attachment. Richelle is particularly skilled in working with clinical/situational anxiety, depression, post trauma consequences, existential issues (grief, loss, change support) as well as facilitating strengthened self-esteem, self-worth and personal growth goals. 

Richelle completed her graduate level work in the area of resilience: developing psychological strength, overcoming adversity, post-traumatic growth in the face of negative life events. Richelle’s work in the area of resilience shaped her approach working with individuals and families. She focuses on clients strengths and abilities to further develop resilient ways to cope with inevitable life stressors, unexpected tragedy and trauma. Richelle is also currently enrolled in the 1st ever Cohort at ATMA Canada, working toward certification in psychedelic assisted therapy (PaT) preparation and integration program.

Richelle’s therapeutic approach is informed by Interpersopnal Neurobiology (IPNB), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well a unique couples approach that is informed by John & Julie Gottman, Esther Perel, and Sue Johnsson. Richelle strives to develop and maintain professional and effective working therapeutic relationships by co-developing strategies and goals that positively contribute to individuals quality of life. Learning about each persons individual differences, their brain, mind, healing, and growth, establishing/ strengthening their overall sense of well-being with movement toward thriving.
